The Hedge Funds Research Institute is an academic research center, located on the premises of the International University of Monaco and sponsored by Alpstar Management. The Institute aims to develop the understanding of the hedge fund industry through research and education. By bringing together academics, practitioners, and students, the center promotes discussion, research, comprehension, innovative solutions, and future developments in the industry. The members of the Hedge Funds Research Institute are specialists from a wide spectrum of different disciplines: Finance, Mathematics, Economics, Information Technology, and other related fields. By exploiting the diversity of backgrounds of our researchers through coordinated projects and interdisciplinary research, we plan to contribute to the development and the understanding of the increasingly complex hedge fund industry. The Institute benefits from state of the art facilities such as a trading room, risk management and econometrics software, and various financial databases. Dedicated lines to the ALPSTAR computer center based in Geneva allow for further access to specialized data bases and the sharing of research efforts. We also provide high-level training courses to bankers and specialists in investment. And we have consulting activities concerning finance and economics.
